Economic Smackdown
Googles recent struggle with China over censorship has raised the possibility that China’s regulatory regime may be too restrictive for the free operation of American technology companies. HBS’s February review of the Google/China skirmish says that “the Google issue has become a cause celebre that exacerbates the already fragile and festering U.S.-China relationship.” Is it worth it for American businesses to acquiesce to the Chinese governments control and censorship requests in order to operate in Chinas ever-growing market? What do the Chinese people think about their government’s censorship of information technology? How will American tech companies survive in Chinas Internet environment? Experts and insiders weigh in.

What is the opinion of the atheists about what happened to Erica Corder?
High school student Erica Corder has First Amendment-guaranteed religious rights
Erica was punished by the Lewis-Palmer High School near Colorado Springs in 2006 when she gave remarks as a class valedictorian at her high school graduation. Her attorneys argue that school officials intimidated her and forced her into writing an apology for expressing her religious beliefs in her 30-second message at graduation.
Her wonderful remarks which supposedly hurt some of her listeners were these: "We are all capable of standing firm and expressing our own beliefs, which is why I need to tell you about someone who loves you more than you could ever imagine. He died for you on a cross over 2,000 years ago, yet was resurrected and is living today in heaven. His name is Jesus Christ. If you don’t already know him personally I encourage you to find out more about the sacrifice he made for you so that you now have the opportunity to live in eternity with him."
Incredibly, immediately after the ceremony, Erica was told that because of those added remarks in her speech, she would be not receiving her diploma with the other students. Instead, she was hauled before the Lewis-Palmer principal, Mr. Brewer, who forced her to write an apology before she could receive her diploma.

ERICA CORDER HAS ACCUSED THAT TEACHER BEFORE THE HIGH COURT FOR BREAKING HER CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS
Her comments are inappropriate. Her personal religious beliefs are not the expected subject matter of the speech of a valedictorian.
I’ll give you an example of the difference. At a recent award presentation I was at, a young man who had received a special award was invited to give a speech. In the course of this speech, he thanked his lecturers and tutors, parents, and "above all, God" for their help and support.
Such a comment is perfectly acceptable.
Erica Corder’s speech is clear and obvious religious proselytising and simple isn’t appropriate in that setting. Would you approve of a Muslim extolling the virtues of submitting to Allah in such a setting? I doubt it.
And that doesn’t even begin to consider the fact that she apparently deliberately deviated from the approved text of her speech in order to say this – she knew it was wrong, she knew it was inappropriate, but she did it anyway and then has the gall to complain about it. Bizarre.

Packaging Solutions
Not everyone has the same idea of what packaging solutions are best for any particular scenario. In fact, it’s quite common to have an owner or product developer submit an idea to a design team, who feels that they are performing the job to the correct specifications. However, when the packaging returns, it isn’t quite what was envisioned. Because of this, smart businesses use an approach where prototypes are used that will allow each team member the chance to assess whether the needs are being properly met. This saves both time and money in developing good packaging solutions that fulfill the ultimate needs of a client.
