I’m writing a post for a WordPress blog called Lawsome (http://www.lawsome.net) about crazy laws and this one sounds interesting but I know a lot of laws are full of fluff and sometimes just made up. I’ve been looking all over for text proof that this is a real law. If anyone could send me a link where this law is written that would be much appreciated.

Consider this myth partially debunked, as of current Maryland law.

There is no specific law, but rather this is just fanciful wording to very mundane ordinances against owning dangerous animals in the first place, and creating disturbances.

Criminal Code § 10-621. "Import, offer, or transfer of dangerous animal." is possible one law you can reference. It prohibits the importation but also possession of a "member of the cat family other than the domestic cat" and "hybrid of a member of the cat family and a domestic cat if the hybrid weighs over 30 pounds."

So possessing the lion in the first place is illegal. Bringing it to the theater will probably heap a Reckless Endangerment (§ 3-204) and Disturbing the peace (§ 10-201) charges on top of that.
