Relationship Points Regarding Office Romances

Offices are the best place for a budding romance. In the past, people think that dating someone inside the office is taboo and would rather keep away from it. But, as studies have shown, dating someone inside the office is good for the company which is why a lot of offices are encouraging their workers to do so. But, there should be limitations to what you should be doing. Here are some of them.

There should be enough grounds for you to establish your relationship. Talking about work all the time or how you got your work done for the day might seem a good ground of interest for you to develop your relationship but it is not enough. Get to know someone on a personal level. Get to know his college friends outside of work.

Be aware of the use of social networking sites. Facebook and Twitter have changed the way people update themselves with information and putting your new relationship status for the world to see might do damage to your relationship than help solidify it.

Dating someone higher than you in your office hierarchy is a huge risk on your part. People might think that you are after the position or other hidden agenda. You might put a target on your back for latching yourself on a person higher than you but there are also things that others do not see which is true love. Be more subtly when it comes to this situation.

One main advantage to dating someone in the office is you can skip the introduction phase. There is no need to make a first good impression since you already know each other. The moment you set your interest on your officemate is the time you reach an understanding.

Bring subtlety to your relationship inside the office. People will be talking about you at the bathroom or at the pantry so make sure that you try to keep your relationship private as much as possible.

And with that, you should try to keep things between the two of you. People might be interested on how the affair began. Stick to the facts surrounding your relationship but do not delve deeper into the personal ones like your sex life.

If there are instances that your office does not allow you to have a relationship with your co-workers, never cross the line. Even if it feels that you have something between your officemate, keep things private and take it outside. Rules were designed so that errors will not be made.
